The hydrolipid layer- a protective barrier, plays an important role for the skin- it isolates the body from the external environment, protects the skin against negative factors and prevents transepidermal water loss (TEWL). It is located in the stratum corneum, the outermost layer of the skin. A damaged hydrolipid layer significantly worsens the condition of the skin, and for the care to bring good results, the protective layer must function properly.
To rebuild the hydrolipid layer, moisturizing active ingredients, substances that bind water, as well as lubricating substances that create occlusions i.e. a protective film, are necessary.
